NYE in the Fylde of dreams… ?

Why, might you ask?

Because a) there are several permitted overnight motorhome parking spaces. At £10 for 48 hours during the winter months, it’s a bargain.

A grim day, but the beach is just over the dunes

And b) there are several pubs and bars and c) there’re cheaper than York!

The number 11 bus took us from just outside the car park to Lytham in 20 minutes.

Lytham, a pretty town, on a better day has a vibrant high street with traditional canopies on some shops. But the wind and rain was relentless, so at 12:30pm our first drinking establishment was visited.

Starting my try January on 31st December makes sense, to me at least, so I opt for a Three B’s Stokers Mild. A potential rookie mistake, because at 12:30pm it was probably the first pull as the other two customers had something lighter.

It wasn’t terrible, a bit more roast character than I would prefer, but good lacing on the glass. Yes, it’s a half… a long day is planned.

A nice bar, which feels new and they were clearly expecting a busy day as three members of staff working. All of which were very friendly and attentive, especially with Stanley, our cardigan corgi. He was offered water and treats, so a top paw rating from him.

All cask beers look to be from Three B’s brewery from Darren, Lancashire.

The music was something modern and poppy, which we’d never heard before. But overall a nice place, which we pinned to return when the rest of our party arrive.

  1. You need to start Shazamming the music so you can appear clued up on modern music (it'll all be Billy Ocean, mind).

£10 for campervan parking is great.
