We left the Fighting Cock at sunset, golden danger hour in Bradford, heading straight to International curry house, through the seemingly expanded University campus*.
Having a curry at sunset and sober is an experience, I’m unsure if I had more or less of an appetite than if I was inebriated?
At least I’ve now left a curry house at both six o’clocks’!
The mixed kebab starter was too tempting and filling, meaning I only ate half of my lamb and chicken Karachi.
The takeout was considered, but carrying a curry into the punk show felt inappropriate… but surely that’s punk?
We arranged to meet Mike’s friend at Jacob’s Ale House, meaning we miss the Lord Clyde but did see the Bradford Live music venue, which isn’t yet live!
Jacob’s is a pub that has survived buildings, roads, roundabouts and subways come and go around it.
Olde world in character with a warming fire it’s a good first and last being near the bus stops. An ample cask selection and a Milk Stout AF by Ilkley, which thankfully was only a 330ml as I was still stuffed from the curry.
And finally, Pretty Vacant the story of Punk. Narrated by Kevin Kennedy.

* I never see Bradford as a university city. The students never made their presence obvious around the pubs and clubs. Thankfully, you were never behind a group of them at the bar buying their own cheap half, one by one!
The International is one of the great curry houses, isn't it ?
ReplyDeleteFoolishly, I had a beer after curry and mango lassi there a few years ago was a VERY bad idea.
